The Finance Clerk (Canada Summer Job) will play a key supporting role in the daily financial operations of the organization, while receiving comprehensive, hands-on training designed to build long-term employability skills for a career in finance, accounting, or data administration. This role gives a young person the opportunity to learn how financial systems operate within a mission-driven non-profit that serves the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in preparing financial reports, budgets, and financial statements while ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
- Support daily financial operations including disbursements, revenue tracking, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Help process expense claims, vendor payments, and staff reimbursements while verifying supporting documentation.
- Compile, review, and analyze monthly financial reports including revenue, expenditures, and budget variances.
- Maintain organized financial records, digital files, and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness.
- Provide operational coverage during staff absences by assisting with routine finance functions under supervision.
- Assist with preparations for audits, tax filings, compliance checks, and financial forecasting.
- Participate in special finance-related projects, such as system improvements, data clean-up, or workflow optimization.
- Support the finance team with administrative tasks including data entry, document preparation, and correspondence.
- Perform additional finance or administrative duties as assigned to enhance learning and support department needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Enrolled in or completed a college program in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- Previous experience (e.g., internships, volunteer work, or coursework) in finance, accounting, or financial analysis, with a basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in working within a mission-driven, non-profit environment.
