We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Indian Curry and Tandoor Cook. This role involves engaging directly with customers and preparing high-quality food in a fast-paced restaurant environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service, food handling, and kitchen operations, with a specific focus on delivering authentic Indian cuisine, excellent service, and maintaining strict food safety standards. Responsibilities
- Authentic Culinary Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian menu items, with a heavy focus on traditional curry dishes and tandoor (clay oven) execution, according to established recipes and standards.
- Customer Service: Serve customers efficiently and courteously when required, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Handle food safely, adhering to all health and safety regulations, and follow food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure quality control.
- Kitchen Operations: Assist with meal preparation, including chopping, assembling, and plating dishes beautifully.
- Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, tandoor station, and service areas.
- Inventory Management: Manage food inventory levels at your station and communicate supply needs to management ahead of busy shifts.
- Teamwork: Support team members during high-volume periods to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations.
Qualifications
- Specialized Experience: Proven experience cooking Indian Curries and operating a Tandoor oven is highly preferred.
- Industry Background: Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or fast-paced kitchen environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Indian spices, food handling, cooking techniques, and meal preparation.
- Safety Standards: Solid understanding of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and Alberta health regulations.
- Customer Service & Pace: Excellent serving skills with a friendly, professional demeanor, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Soft Skills: Good communication skills and a strong ability to work well within a collaborative team.
- Flexibility: Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including weekends and evenings.
