Beef Herdsperson near Barrhead Alberta.
Meunier Livestock Ltd is a large, diversified, family run organization with feedlot, cropping, and cow/calf enterprises and a direct to consumer meat business located near Barrhead AB. We are seeking an independent, hardworking individual to join our team as a Beef Herdsperson. Looking for a person who enjoys working outside with cattle on intensively managed ranch land. The Beef Herdsperson will be a forward thinking self-starter who is open to new ideas and willing to work in all areas of the ranch.
Duties of the Beef Herdsperson:
· Process cattle
· Assist with pasture calving
· Herd health care for both grazing and feedlot animals
· Maintenance and construction of fence
· Operation and implementation of water pipelines
· Movement and maintenance of portable water and fence systems
· Record keeping related to grazing and health of animals
· Operation and maintenance of farm equipment
· Assist in all areas of the operation as needed depending on the season
Competencies of the Beef Herdsperson
· Self-starter capable of making daily decisions
· Adaptable to change and willingness to be flexible in changing working environment
· Communicate clearly
· Familiarity with livestock and farm machinery
· Interest in agriculture
Requirements:
· Ability to work individually and within teams
· Ability to work long and flexible hours
· Valid class 5 drivers license
Two years experience with Beef Cattle.
Wages dependant on experience. Housing available. Medical benefits provided after three month probation period. Opportunities for learning and personal development encouraged.
