ABOUT THE ROLE
Build the Infrastructure That Powers Communities.
As a Civil & Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, assessment, and implementation of civil and structural components supporting electrical distribution projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, practical, and code-compliant engineering solutions involving foundations, duct banks, structural support systems, trenchless technologies, overhead utility infrastructure, and site development.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As part of our team you will do:
CIVIL & STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING DESIGN
- Design foundations for transformers, switchgear, self-supporting poles, and heavy electrical equipment.
- Develop duct bank layouts for underground cable installations.
- Design retaining walls, equipment platforms, access structures, and other structural systems.
- Perform structural loading assessments and pole loading analysis.
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and construction packages.
UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE & TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGY
- Support trenchless construction methods including HDD, pipe jacking, and microtunneling.
- Assess site conditions and recommend appropriate installation methodologies.
- Coordinate with contractors, surveyors, and geotechnical teams.
- Ensure underground infrastructure designs meet safety and structural requirements.
SITE DEVELOPMENT & ASSET ASSESSMENTS
- Prepare grading and drainage plans.
- Conduct structural assessments of existing utility infrastructure.
- Evaluate manholes, vaults, and related structures.
- Develop rehabilitation, maintenance, and replacement recommendations.
- Support demolition and decommissioning planning efforts.
FIELD SERVICES & CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT
- Perform site inspections and construction reviews.
- Provide field engineering support during project execution.
- Verify compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and project requirements.
- Participate in quality assurance and construction support activities.
COLLABORATION & PROJECT DELIVERY
- Work closely with electrical engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients.
- Provide technical expertise throughout project lifecycles.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of utility and infrastructure projects.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
EDUCATION & LICENSING
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience.
- Experience supporting projects involving electrical utility and civil/structural infrastructure.
- Experience within utility, power distribution, telecommunications, energy, or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License.
- Clean driving record.
- Access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to work in field environments and travel to project sites as required.
