Job Description
We are looking for Field Technicians - Material Testing & Inspection for our Barrie, Oshawa, & Richmond Hill Branch offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will perform site inspection, material testing (soil, asphalt and concrete) using a nuclear gauge, data collection and general geotechnical work supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Diploma in a Civil Engineering technology program (or equivalent) or completion of 2 yrs in a Civil Engineering degree program.
Relevant experience: 0 to 6 months (preferred)
SKILLS:
Knowledge of commercial, industrial, institutional and residential sites development, and municipal undertakings. Must be able to:
- Read and interpret working drawings and blueprints.
- Plan and prioritize work.
- Write basic reports.
- Effectively deal with and get willing cooperation from others in the job sites.
- Communicate fluently in oral and written English.
MUST present and submit a police name/criminal record check. This is required by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for all workers handling the nuclear gauge.
Must be punctual, possess a valid Ontario driver’s license, a pair of safety boots, and a reliable vehicle to drive to work sites. Willing to travel to various job sites that may be assigned. Mileage will be reimbursed.
