POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, validation, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems used in passenger train door control systems.
Working in close collaboration with System Engineering, Hardware, Software, Production, and Project Management, this role ensures that mechanical designs are:
- Robust and manufacturable
- Compliant with railway standards
- Cost-effective
- Delivered in alignment with project schedules
This is a hands-on design role with strong involvement in R&D, product improvement, and production support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Design & Development
- Design mechanical components and assemblies for railway applications
- Create 2D and 3D technical drawings using SolidWorks
- Ensure compliance with railway and environmental constraints
- Perform tolerance analysis and design validation
Documentation & Configuration Control
- Produce and maintain complete technical documentation
- Manage SolidWorks Vault structure and revisions
- Support ECN process for mechanical changes
Project & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support Project Managers with technical input and risk visibility
- Collaborate with Electrical, Hardware, and Software teams
- Participate actively in design reviews
- Support integration of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies
R&D & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in development of new products
- Propose improvements to existing products
- Conduct technical research on mechanical and electrical components
Production & Launch Support
- Support manufacturing during product launch
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly
- Improve manufacturability and reduce cost where possible
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design
- Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD proficiency
- Experience in electromechanical systems
- Strong technical judgment and autonomy
- Experience in manufacturing or production environments
- Bilingual (French and English)
- Willingness to travel internationally (10–15%)
Assets
- Railway or safety-critical system experience
- Knowledge of railway standards
- Experience with tolerance stack-ups and vibration constraints
- Experience in product lifecycle management

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $74,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
