NumberConstruct is a cloud-based accounting & advisory firm that helps construction, blue collar and home service businesses run on modern accounting technology. The Role
This is a in office position built for someone who is equally comfortable with debits and credits and with software and systems. You'll spend part of your time doing hands-on bookkeeping and accounting work, part of it setting up new clients on our technology stack, and part of it helping keep our own internal tools running smoothly. It's an ideal role for a student or recent grad who wants real exposure to both the accounting profession and the technology that's reshaping it.
What You'll Do
Accounting technology & client setup
- Onboard new clients onto our accounting platforms and make sure all their system are integrated (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext, Plooto, Jobber, HouseCallPro, ServiceTitan, or similar).
- Configure charts of accounts, bank feeds, integrations, and automation rules.
- Migrate and clean up data when clients move over from prior systems.
- Document setup processes and create simple guides for clients and the team.
- Troubleshoot app/integration issues and recommend better tools or workflows.
Bookkeeping & accounting
- Record and categorize transactions, perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, and assist with payroll where needed.
- Prepare working papers, month-end closes, and supporting schedules.
- Help with [HST/GST filings, year-end prep, financial statement packages] under supervision.
Internal tech stack support
- Help maintain and improve the firm's own tools (e.g., practice management, document management, workflow, and communication apps).
- Build or refine internal templates, checklists, and light automations.
- Support the team with day-to-day tech questions and onboarding new staff to our systems.

What We're Looking For
Required
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Solid grasp of core accounting concepts (the accounting cycle, debits/credits, reconciliations).
- Strong comfort with technology — you pick up new software quickly and enjoy figuring things out.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and a willingness to ask questions.
- Good written and verbal communication; you can explain things clearly to non-accountants.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with cloud accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, etc.).
- Familiarity with spreadsheets beyond the basics, or any exposure to automation tools (Zapier, Make, Power Automate) or light scripting.
- Experience in a client-facing or service role.
