AAbout the Role
As the Manager, Accounts Payable, Income Producing Properties (IPP), you’ll play a key role in leading the accounts payable operations, team performance, and payment compliance while driving process improvements through automation and AI. This role combines operational excellence, technology adoption, and strategic leadership to build efficient, scalable and data-driven AP processes. Reporting to the Controller, Income Producing Properties, you will lead a team to deliver on the above.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Leadership
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring timely, accurate, timely and compliant payment processing.
- Manage month-end close activities related to accounts payable, including accruals, reconciliations, aged payable analysis, and reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop the AP team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Prepare accurate and timely EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payment summaries, validate supporting documentation, and ensure all payments are properly authorized before processing.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify, implement, and continuously optimize automated workflows to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
- Champion the use of AI and emerging technologies to improve invoice processing, approvals, coding, exception management, and reporting.
- Evaluate new software, automation platforms, and AI solutions that enhance productivity and scalability.
- Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Operations to implement digital transformation initiatives across the procure-to-pay process.
Technology & AI Adoption
- Serve as the AP team's technology champion by promoting the effective use of ERP systems, AI tools, and automation platforms.
- Use AI to analyze spending trends, identify anomalies, improve vendor communications, and generate actionable insights.
- Continuously explore new AI capabilities that improve accuracy, productivity, and decision-making.
- Develop KPIs to measure performance, identify bottlenecks, and support data-driven improvements.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Resolve payment issues promptly while maintaining excellent service levels.
Support procurement and finance teams in improving vendor onboarding and payment processes.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP best practices.
- Experience with ERP systems such as YARDI.
- Experience with implementing process improvements and workflow automation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
- Experience with AI-enabled finance tools and intelligent document processing solutions is preferred.
- Proven track record of leading digital transformation initiatives within finance is preferred.
The expected annualized base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000 plus discretionary bonuses and/or commission. The actual base salary offered will take into consideration factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, and relevant education or training.
