Hours: Part-time 10–15 hours weekly (evening shifts starting at 6:00 PM)

Play Forever is a registered charity delivering accessible, inclusive, and high-quality sport and recreation programs that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and personal development for children and youth across the Greater Toronto Area. Our After School Sports Programs provide a safe, fun, and engaging environment where participants build confidence, develop skills, and create lasting friendships.
Position Summary
Play Forever is hiring multiple Program Support Staff for our after school programs in Toronto and York Region. Support Staff play an essential role in the daily operation of the program — ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, supporting Program Leaders in delivering programming, and helping create a positive, energetic, and welcoming atmosphere. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about working with children, sport, and community.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Program Support Staff responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supervision & Safety
· Supervise all participants at all times and ensure children are participating in a safe and appropriate manner
· Maintain constant awareness of participant whereabouts, headcounts, and group transitions throughout the day
· Ensure a safe environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards before and during activities
· Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures as outlined by PlayForever
· Stay until the end of each day until all participants have been picked up by an authorized parent or guardian
Daily Setup & Operations
· Arrive a minimum of 15 minutes early to help set up the site and prepare equipment for the program session
· Assist with the clean-up and pack-down of all equipment and program spaces at the end of each day
· Ensure all program areas are kept tidy, organized, and safe throughout the day
Program Engagement & Mentorship
· Encourage all participants to participate and be an enthusiastic, positive role model at all times
· Foster an inclusive atmosphere where every participant feels welcome, valued, and supported
· Use positive language and constructive encouragement to build participant confidence
· Help manage participant behaviour respectfully and in line with PlayForever’s Code of Conduct
Program Support
· Assist Program Leaders in carrying out their duties and running the various programs and activities scheduled for each day
· Help lead warm-ups, games, drills, and activities as directed by the Program Lead
· Support smooth transitions between activities and breaks
· Adapt and assist with activities to accommodate participants of varying ages, abilities, and needs
Reporting & Communication
· Complete and submit incident reports accurately and promptly for any injury, concern, or incident
· Report directly to the Program Lead on-site regarding any issues, concerns, or participant needs
· Communicate openly and professionally with participants, parents, fellow staff, and coordinators
· Escalate any safety or child-protection concerns immediately in accordance with Play Forever’s Abuse Prevention Protocol
Required Standards & Compliance
All Support Staff Must:
· Follow all rules and guidelines outlined during the mandatory staff meeting held prior to the program start date
· Adhere to all policies in the Play Forever Staff & Volunteer Onboarding Handbook
· Comply with the Play Forever Abuse Prevention & Response Protocol at all times
· Uphold the Play Forever Staff Professional Code of Conduct in all interactions
· Return all required documents signed after carefully reviewing them prior to the start date
Qualifications & Requirements
· Must be 16 years of age or older
· Must be mobile / able to drive — program sites are located at multiple different locations
· A valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) is required prior to the start date
· Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification is considered a strong asset (or willingness to obtain)
· Previous experience working with children or youth in camp, sport, or recreation settings is preferred
· Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
· Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to the full duration of the program (July & September 2026 – June 2027)
· Energetic, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about working with children
· Ability to remain calm and act responsibly in a fast-paced environment
