Construction Lead Hand
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Owner, the Construction Lead Hand directs the work activities of the grounds maintenance personnel, while supporting in the execution of work and is the first line of support for the grounds maintenance personnel. The incumbent will organize equipment and labour and ensure all projects are completed safely, on time, on budget and in accordance with the project requirements.
The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of CILTD, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.
This full-time hourly position is based on forty (40) hours weekly. Additional hours may be required in order to meet Company and/or Client requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Execution of grounds maintenance projects, planning labour requirements, equipment requirements and material deliveries and timing to ensure completion of job(s) within project deadlines;
- Manage safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard;
- Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members and assist crew members in the completion of grounds maintenance activities such as: landscaping and snow removal;
- Operate various types of tools and equipment in a safe and productive manner;
- Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to delegate and complete work activities;
- Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, job sites, and shop/yard areas;
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner;
- Ensure all crew members are in compliance with government and company Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' standards;
- Enforce and work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations at shop/yard and on job sites;
- Report all incidents, damage and near-misses immediately;
- Provide clear and concise direction to crew on a daily basis to achieve the goals of each project;
- Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner;
- Complete reports to record issues and work performed; and,
- Other relatable duties as required.
Qualifications
- Grade twelve (12) Diploma or General Educational Diploma 'GED' equivalency is required;
- Minimum three (3) years of relatable experience in the ground maintenance industry is required;
- Minimum three (3) years of relatable experience in a lead/supervisory role is required;
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License, along with a clean five (5) year driver's abstract is required;
- Ability to interpret survey layout would be an asset;
- Trailer towing experience is preferred;
- Ability to identify hazards and complete risk assessments;
- Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner;
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various grounds maintenance projects;
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize job responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment, along with high attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain working relationships with supervision and clients;
- Experience with using Microsoft office suite applications is considered and asset;
- Must have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; and,
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
