We are seeking a family lawyer with significant experience in child protection proceedings to join our growing practice. This role is dedicated to representing clients in child protection matters but also involves managing domestic family law files.
Qualifications
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Be willing to accept Legal Aid work as well as private files
- Be on the Legal Aid Ontario (Child Protection) panel
- Family law experience, including parenting, decision-making responsibility, support, and related matters is an asset
- Minimum 3 years experience handling child protection matters under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) is mandatory
- Demonstrated experience appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice.
- Ability to independently manage files from intake through trial or final resolution.
- Experience negotiating with Children's Aid Societies and representing parents and caregivers
