Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist carpenters and construction team members with daily project tasks, including:
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment
- Prepare and organize job sites for daily operations
- Assist carpenters with framing, wall construction, roofing, decking, fencing, and general renovation work
- Measure, cut, and prepare construction materials under supervision
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely
- Assist with demolition, removal of old materials, and site cleanup
- Remove rubble, debris, and waste materials from construction sites
- Mix, pour, and spread construction materials such as concrete or patching compounds when required
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing building materials
- Perform routine maintenance, minor repair tasks, and general labour duties
- Support project completion while maintaining quality and safety standards
- Follow workplace safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly
Equipment Experience
Experience with the following equipment is considered an asset:
- Nail guns
- Air tools / pneumatic tools
- Drills
- Hand tools
- Compacting equipment
- Small construction equipment
- Material handling tools
Qualifications & Skills
Preferred candidates should have:
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety practices
- Strong willingness to learn carpentry and renovation skills
- Good physical stamina and ability to handle heavy materials
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Valid driver’s licence preferred
- Reliable transportation is considered an asset
- Ability to travel between job sites as required
