Job Summary
With the right canidate, there is a possibility for this role to be year round.
As caretaker for the Ag Society, you will be required to complete a variety of tasks, as you will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the Three Cities Agri-plex (Arena) and possibly the Recreational Regional Park.
Both facilities are seasonal work and there is some overlap of both facilities in early spring and late fall.
Main Responsibilities - Arena Facility
You will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the entire building. All areas include, viewing area located by kitchen, eating area located by kitchen, bathrooms, main entrance lobby, curling rink lobby, meeting room and bathrooms, all dressing rooms, washrooms, and hallways located in the basement. You are also responsible for all areas located around the ice surface, including the upstairs, penalty box and players boxes. There is a schedule that is to be followed with regards to what should be done daily, weekly, or monthly. These schedules cover cleaning and regular maintenance expected. Any major maintenance would be brought forward to the arena committee and they would then decide if caretaker were to perform the task or if it should be hired out or volunteers requested.
You will also be responsible for the maintenance of the hockey ice surface and the gym located in the curling rink area. You will also be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the machines for maintaining the ice i.e., Zamboni, ice edger etc.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that the ice plant facility is working properly and reporting any issues immediately so that the problem can be addressed, quickly and safely.
During the hockey season, hours vary from week to week depending on how many teams are registered for the year and when games are scheduled. Generally during the week practices start around 5:00 PM and the last team is off the ice at 10:30 PM
At the end of the night, you are responsible to ensure that all doors going to concession area are closed and locked, outside doors are closed, locked and that the alarm is set before leaving the facility.
Possible Responsibilities
With the right fit, we would consider expanding the role to include the Recreational Park and Arena Concession.
At the Park, you will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the Clubhouse located at the park, including the bathrooms. You will also be responsible for maintaining the grounds, including the ball diamonds, cutting grass, watering flowers, and painting etc. as directed by the Park Committee Chairperson. You are also responsible for the maintenance of all equipment.
During the summer months your hours are flexible, we ask that you work a minimum of 30 hours / week. In June we host our annual fair, you will be required to be on site that weekend from 9 am – 5 pm. We would ask that you not ask for time off, the week leading up to the fair and the week after. We also host a youth horse camp and gymkhana in July you would be expected to be on the grounds during that event as well.
During the summer if the weather prevents you from being able to work out at the park, this is a great opportunity to complete some tasks at the arena.
At the Arena Concession, you will be responsible for keeping the kitchen clean and up to code. The kitchen will have to be kept stocked with food and necessities. There will be a list of food and supplies provided along with where they are purchased.
Hours will vary depending on the season, but you will be required to make sure everything is fully stocked and ready based on the ice schedule (tournaments, showcase VS a regular weekend) and also hiring sufficient help for these scheduled events.
Pay: From $3,000.00 per month
