Program Overview:
Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper to join our finance team. As a Junior Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting various accounting functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is looking to kick-start their career in accounting and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and growing organization.
Responsibilities:
– Record financial transactions accurately and timely into the accounting system.
– Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including processing invoices, preparing payment vouchers, and tracking outstanding payments.
– Help maintain the general ledger by recording journal entries, categorizing expenses, and updating account balances.
– Support the tracking and reconciliation of company expenses, including reviewing expense reports and verifying receipts.
– Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
– Provide administrative support for payroll-related processes after training/probation period.
– Maintain organized physical or digital filing systems for financial documents.
– Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders to address inquiries and contribute to the overall financial operations of the organization.
– Assist with filing, printing, and other administrative duties as required.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field (or currently pursuing a degree in these fields) would be an asset.
– Experience with Sage/Quickbooks and other Accounting software is an asset.
– Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
– Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures.
– Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
– Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
– Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
– Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative when necessary.
– Prior experience or internships in accounting or bookkeeping is a plus, but not required.
– Demonstrated focus and ability to work independently to complete work within deadlines
– Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial and employee information with discretion.
