Our Opportunity
Avalon Employment Inc. is seeking a School-to-Work Transition Coordinator to support a provincial Labour Market Partnership project focused on modernizing Supported Employment services. This role strengthens pathways from education to employment for youth with developmental disabilities by improving coordination across schools, post-secondary institutions, employment agencies, and employers.
Your Role
Reporting to the Project Management Team, the Coordinator will lead activities that improve transition planning, referral pathways, and collaboration between education and employment systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support a provincial School-to-Work Transition framework
- Strengthen referral pathways between schools and employment services
- Build partnerships with schools, post-secondary institutions, agencies, and employers
- Support school-based work placements and employer engagement
- Facilitate meetings, consultations, and stakeholder engagement
- Contribute to transition tools, templates, and training materials
- Support data collection, reporting, and project evaluation
- Participate in project working groups and pilot initiatives
Education and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Career Development, Education, Social Work, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in youth employment, career development, or community services
Skills
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Knowledge of education and transition planning processes
- Organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Assets
- Experience supporting persons with disabilities
- Knowledge of employment programs or labour market initiatives
- Experience in program or systems-level work
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to travel within Newfoundland and Labrador
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
