Role Overview:
The Installation & Service Team Leader is responsible for supporting the day-to-day leadership and operation of the irrigation team, including installations, service, and maintenance across residential, commercial, and golf properties.
This role operates as a self-managed, revenue-generating unit, accountable for productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, and field-generated revenue. The Installation and Service Team Leader is responsible not only for executing scheduled work, but also for maximizing each day’s efficiency, identifying new opportunities, and delivering a high-quality customer experience while upholding company standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Field Operations & Project Execution
- Lead and oversee daily installation and service operations, ensuring jobs are completed on schedule and to company standards.
- Take full ownership of the assigned daily schedule ensure all jobs are completed and proactively adjust to fill gaps or downtime.
- Monitor job progress, productivity, and work quality, addressing issues and delays proactively.
- Make day-to-day field decisions to resolve problems, adjust scope, and maintain efficiency without unnecessary escalation.
- Ensure all work follows company processes, industry best practices, and quality standards.
- Respond quickly to quality control and warranty-related issues.
- Ensure safe work practices around utilities, infrastructure, and job site conditions.
- Conduct daily morning huddles to review schedules, job requirements, and team expectations.
2. Revenue Generation & Field Sales
- Identify opportunities for additional work while on-site and actively contribute to revenue growth.
- Prepare service estimates and clearly communicate recommendations and solutions to customers.
- Collaborate with the office to confirm pricing, scope adjustments, and approvals as needed.
- Support the creation of future work by proactively identifying customer needs and potential upgrades
3. Team Coordination & Customer Experience
- Supervise, support, and motivate team members to achieve high performance and productivity.
- Plan and coordinate daily schedules, workloads, and on-site activities.
- Foster a positive team environment, promoting accountability, morale, and retention.
- Act as a primary point of contact on-site, owning the full customer experience from arrival through completion.
- Communicate professionally with customers and contractors to ensure satisfaction and long-term relationships.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Customer Care, supervisors, other departments) to manage workflow and resolve issues.
- Train, coach, and support ongoing development of team members.
4. Equipment, Inventory & Administration
- Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of vehicles, tools, and equipment within budget guidelines.
- Monitor and manage inventory to reduce waste, loss, and damage.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation, including:
- Job costing and reports.
- Time tracking and job logs
- Materials and inventory usage.
- As-built and service documentation.
- Ensure all work is properly recorded in company systems (e.g., Service Titan).
- Maintain clear documentation of incomplete work for efficient follow-up.
- Enforce company procedures to safeguard assets and ensure proper record-keeping.
5. Health, Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all team members follow health and safety policies, procedures, and job site regulations.
- Enforce use of required PPE and compliance with safety standards (e.g., WHMIS, OH&S, Working at heights).
- Immediately stop work and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
- Ensure safety documentation, inspections, and vehicle checks are completed and up to date.
- Participate in and enforce attendance at all required safety training and meetings.
- Follow and enforce company security procedures to protect assets.
6. Financial & Operational Accountability
- Monitor job costing, labour efficiency and unbillable time in alignment with company targets.
- Ensure accurate time tracking and billing for all team activities.
- Manage job-related expenses within approved budgets.
- Obtain approval for purchases exceeding company thresholds.
- Support overall operational efficiency and cost control initiatives.
7. Other Duties as Assigned
- Perform additional administrative or operational responsibilities as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to support personal and career development.
- Support overall business operations and contribute to team success.

- Productivity: Jobs are completed on schedule with efficient use of labour and minimal downtime.
- Quality: Work meets company standards with low deficiencies, rework, or warranty callbacks.

- Documentation & Billing: Accurate, complete, and timely job tracking, reporting, and billing.
- Safety compliance: Consistent adherence to safety standards with minimal incidents.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in irrigation, landscaping, or related field.
- Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT) certification (or working toward) preferred/required.
- Experience with field service or scheduling software (e.g., Service Titan).
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.

- Lift up to 50lbs.
