South Winnipeg Seniors Resource Council (SWSRC), a non-profit information and referral hub connecting older adults with community resources to assist them in daily living. The SWSRC’s catchment area is from the Assiniboine River in the North, to Wilkes in the South and from the Red River in the East, to the Perimeter Highway on the West.
Job Description: The overall purpose of the position is to manage the day-to-day operations of the Golden Rule Seniors Resource Centre, including recruiting volunteers, supervising staff and assisting the SWSRC Board in hiring new staff to provide an effective, collaborative culture. To ensure that all programs and activities operate as planned and within operational parameters as set by the SWSRC Board. Other responsibilities include Financial & Resource Management, and Grant writing and reporting.
1. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Program Planning:
o Identifying program needs and objectives of the Resource Centre
o Determine resources required that meet the needs of the designated communities’ seniors
o Identify skills required by volunteers to provide support services
o Develop volunteer recruitment strategies
· Implement Services:
o Ensure Centre is open and accessible within stated dates/times
o Develop and program Resource Centre activities in coordination with the community and the Golden Rule Seniors Resource Centre Committee of the Board
o Place volunteers and coordinate and assign work based on client need and volunteer interest
o Monitor volunteer and service provider performance and attain feedback to ensure client satisfaction
· Administrative Duties:
o Compile (monthly/quarterly/yearly) statistics for the Board
o Maintain a current record keeping system on clients, volunteers and service providers
o Prepare written reports as required
o Assist with budget preparation and monitoring
o Attend Board Meetings as required by the employer
o Attend Golden Rule Seniors Resource Centre Committee meetings
o Maintain liaisons with community agencies and services
o Communicate with the community as required by the Board
o Maintain client confidentiality
o Other tasks that may be assigned
· Evaluate Programming:
o Assist the Board in reviewing program effectiveness
o Make recommendations on programs and activities to the Board
o Identify specific concerns or issues related to the program and communicate these problems to the Board
2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
o Should possess 2 year’s work experience with community development and/or relevant undergraduate degree
o Possess strong leadership skills
o Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with seniors, the general public, volunteers and others
o Possess good oral and written communication skills
o Computer experience in word processing and spreadsheets required
o Knowledge of the ageing process
o Ability to organize various activities
o Maintain good office practices and a current filing system
o Successful applicant will be subject to criminal record and vulnerable sector check
3. SUPERVISION:
o Reports to SWSRC Board and the Golden Rule Seniors Resource Centre Committee as required
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
