Position Description
The primary responsibilities include overseeing the design and implementation of elevator modernization and construction projects, along with participating in continuous product development efforts based on stakeholder feedback and industry trends.
Responsibilities
· Represent Delta’s core values of Integrity, Service and Quality in relationships with both internal staff members and external customers and suppliers.
· Follow Delta Elevator policies and procedures, Employee Handbook, and Health & Safety Manual guidelines.
· Provide technical assistance to sales during pre-sales and customer approval phases as required.
· Manage project schedules and supervise/review technician work as assigned.
· Use or modify existing Engineering Calculation Programs and provide calculations for approval drawing packages for new installations and modernization projects.
· Produce and/or review the Main Layout, Cab and Fixture approval drawings for new installations and modernizations.
· Assist in the development of engineering models, experimental prototypes, or test setups using sketches, rough outlines, or verbal instructions.
· Prepare detailed model concepts from rough design ideas for new product development.
· Create, revise, and organize production drawings and documentation support manufacturing.
· Produce and/or review manufacturing drawings, both assemblies and parts, for stock and job specific equipment.
· Coordinate with suppliers and Delta’s purchasing department the ordering of non-stock parts and preparation of purchase orders as required.
· Assist in the development of documentation for new and existing products.
· Prepare TSSA design submissions for review and, when qualified, stamp and certify submissions.
· Support ISO initiatives by conforming to procedures and creating or revising procedures as required.
Qualifications
3-7 years design experience in a mechanical/manufacturing field
- Graduate of a PEO recognized university engineering program
- P.Eng designation or eligible for P.Eng licence.
- Proficient in CAD tools for design and management
- Experience using finite element analysis or similar engineering design software.
- Project management experience an asset.
Skills
· Excellent communication skills including oral and written communication.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with advanced Excel skills. Proficient with architectural blueprint reading.
