Job Overview
Nanaimo Family Life Association is hiring a Contractor for the Better at Home Program in Ladysmith, BC. Better at Home is a province-wide program funded by the Government of BC and managed by the United Way of the Lower Mainland. The goal of the program is to help seniors (65+) remain independent at home, age with dignity, and stay connected with their community by providing non-medical services.`
Responsibilities
The services you will be expected to provide are: Light Housekeeping and Light Yard Work. This contractor role would include being responsible for administrative tasks such as scheduling, invoicing, making phone calls, etc.
Light housekeeping duties may include vacuuming and sweeping/mopping floors, dusting surfaces, cleaning kitchen, bathroom and changing bedding and occasionally assisting with laundry, organizing, and cleaning out the fridge. Light yard work may include stacking/chopping wood (case by case basis), trimming grass, or raking.
Building rapport and providing caring, quality, and timely services for our clients is very important in this role.
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping and/or yard work experience.
- Valid BC Driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Experience working with the older adult population, disabilities and or cognitive changes is an asset.
- Be able to work independently.
- Must be able to: stand, lift, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and carry items.
- Previous work as a contractor is an asset.
- Clear Criminal Record Check for vulnerable adults.
Job Specifications: $25.00 per hour, 20 hours per week
