Position Summary
The Boiler Operator / Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the company’s boilers, utility systems, and production equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. This role supports uninterrupted production by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and responding quickly to operational concerns throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Boiler Operations
- Operate, monitor, and maintain steam boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Conduct daily inspections of boiler systems, water levels, fuel supply, and pressure controls.
- Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, and system performance to ensure efficient operation.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of boiler operations, maintenance, and safety checks.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including provincial boiler and pressure vessel codes.
- Respond promptly to equipment issues or emergency situations to minimize downtime.
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, valves, and packaging equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on boilers and associated machinery.
- Assist with installation, setup, and modifications of equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
- Communicate maintenance concerns and repair updates to supervisors and production teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Power Engineering program or 5th class Boiler Operator certification.
- Previous experience operating boilers in industrial or food production settings.
- Experience with mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when required.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working around industrial equipment.
- Exposure to heat, steam, noise, and production environments.
Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour
