Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Crossing Guard to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians at designated crossing points near schools, parks, or community areas. This role is vital in maintaining a safe environment for students and residents during peak crossing times. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for safety, and a friendly demeanor to interact effectively with the community.
Responsibilities
- Safely assist pedestrians, especially children, in crossing streets at designated locations during scheduled times
- Use hand signals, signs, or flags to direct traffic and ensure pedestrian safety
- Remain vigilant for approaching vehicles and maintain control of crossing areas at all times
- Communicate clearly with pedestrians and drivers to facilitate smooth and safe crossings
- Report any unsafe conditions or hazards in the crossing area to appropriate authorities
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures consistently to prevent accidents or injuries
Requirements
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pedestrians, drivers, and team members
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods during shifts
- Responsible, dependable, and punctual with a commitment to safety
- Ability to stand for long durations and perform physical tasks such as signaling or holding signs
- Prior experience in safety roles or customer service is a plus but not required
- Must be able to pass any background checks or training requirements as mandated by local regulations
Pay: $20.00-$23.50 per hour
