Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Front Load Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating Front Load trucks to pick up and transport waste and recyclable materials. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and excellent customer service skills. The Front end Driver will play a crucial part in maintaining efficient waste management operations while adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate Front Load trucks to pick up and empty waste containers at designated locations.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of materials while adhering to weight limits and safety standards.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Collect slips and maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and any incidents that occur during transport.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding schedules and service needs.
- Assist with minor automotive repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Valid Ontario DZ or AZ Driver’s Licence in good standing.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of commercial driving experience (Front Load or waste industry experience preferred).
Work Conditions:
- Full-time, year-round position.
- Work may involve early mornings, long hours, and outdoor conditions.
- Clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR (no major infractions).
- Knowledge of Ontario traffic laws and MTO regulations.
- Ability to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Physically fit to handle occasional lifting, climbing, and securing of loads.
- Safety certifications such as WHMIS, Working at Heights, or First Aid/CPR considered an asset.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with Valid Ontario DZ or AZ Driver’s Licence in good standing.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation is preferred.
- Previous experience in freight transportation or waste management is a plus.
- Skills in forklift operation are advantageous for handling materials efficiently.
