Overall job objectives
The Barista is the image of Hinnawi Bros Bagel & Cafe, and will be involved in the entire operations of the Cafe, from beverage and bagel sandwich preparations to ensuring proper hygiene standards and provide excellent customer service and delight.
Job Specifications
Barista Duties:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including specialty coffees and teas.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment with expertise.
- Take customer orders through a POS system, process payments, and manage cash handling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the coffee bar, counters, and equipment.
- Provide friendly and efficient customer service, answering questions, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Monitor inventory levels for coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, and restock as needed.
Sandwich Making Duties:
- Prepare and assemble bagel sandwiches according to customer orders and company recipes.
- Be able to operate a kitchen grill in order to cook sandwich ingredients.
- Ensure all sandwiches are presented attractively and meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and condition for sandwich ingredients.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a barista, sandwich maker, or in a similar role in a coffee shop or café setting.
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to switch between different tasks seamlessly.
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Must be able to comfortably communicate in both French and English.
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and sandwich preparation methods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during peak hours.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
