Roles & Responsibilities:
· Carry out site foreman’s directives safely throughout daily operations
· Install various sizes/material of pipe as well as manholes, catch basins, valves, hydrants, etc.
· Ability to direct Hoe Operator in excavating correct trench elevations
· Monitor backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper pipe support
· Ability to safely work around excavation equipment in deep trenches
· Check pipe grade for conformance to requirements, using levels, lasers or batter boards
· Dig trenches to required depths by hand or using trenching tools
· Train, mentor and motivate junior crew members
· Perform other duties as required
· Ability to work as part of a team
Required Experience & Additional Requirements:
· Minimum 2 years of experience deep underground utilities experience
· Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and specifications
· Thorough understanding of construction site safety practices
· Extensive knowledge of equipment utilization, operation, and maintenance
· Must have your own transportation
· Physically demanding outdoor conditions
· Overtime will be required during peak construction months
· RSTS or CSTS Certificate is an asset
