Freymond Lumber has been operating a sawmill in Bancroft, Ontario since 1946. We manufacture high-quality hardwood and softwood lumber sourced responsibly from local Crown forests, private woodlots, and trusted logging contractors. We supply truckload quantities of green, graded lumber, cants, and ties to customers across the region.
Position Overview
Freymond Lumber is seeking a skilled and dependable Resaw Operator to run and manage our resaw line.
This is a key production role responsible for breaking down cants and flitches into dimensional lumber while maximizing recovery and maintaining grade quality. The right candidate understands lumber, pays attention to detail, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and control the resaw safely and efficiently.
- Evaluate incoming material and determine proper cutting strategy to maximize yield.
- Set and adjust saw guides, feed speeds, and thickness settings as required.
- Monitor lumber quality and make real-time adjustments to maintain grade standards.
- Inspect saw blades and report or assist with blade changes as needed.
- Maintain steady production flow and communicate with other mill operators.
- Perform daily equipment checks and maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
Qualifications
- Previous resaw or sawmill equipment operation experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of lumber sizes, grading, and recovery optimization.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify potential equipment issues.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and self-motivated.
- Physically capable of working in a sawmill setting and handling material when required.
- Strong work ethic and consistent attendance
