What will your role involve?
The Custom Product Engineer works in the manufacturing sector, overseeing the design of switchboards at the manufacturing site (Drummondville). The primary responsibility is to ensure that all switchboards are designed and manufactured in full compliance with customer requirements and applicable certifications, following established design protocols (design for manufacturing) and using appropriate available technology (3D CAD software). The engineer will be responsible for designing various components, electrical connections for metering equipment, and required busbars according to customer specifications once the work is assigned to the plant. Designs must be completed within strict timelines to meet product production schedules.
The Engineer will:
- Ensure designs comply with applicable CSA/UL standards;
- Verify design interferences and manufacturability;
- Prepare drawings and specific documentation required for assembly;
- Modify production documents in SAP (addition/removal of parts) and adjust labor according to design requirements;
- Lead the management of product issues and provide technical support to eliminate problems at the source in production;
- Assess product quality and interpret quality criteria according to applicable standards;
- Contribute to the improvement and optimization of general processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
- Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
- Knowledge of CAD software;
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is an asset;
- 2 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing and/or product engineering;
- Strong communication skills.

The successful candidate for this position must be bilingual. Fluency in French and English (verbal and written) is required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position for the following reason(s):
- The role requires interacting with English-speaking customers and suppliers across Canada and/or internationally;
- The role requires regular interactions with Siemens colleagues based outside of Quebec, nationally and internationally;
- The role requires using software or technology that is available only in English;
- The role requires liaising with foreign regulatory and governmental agencies based in the United States and/or Europe;
