Key Responsibilities:
- Circulate through fourteen in-person sites and support the development and delivery of engaging physical activity, nutrition, and health & wellness-based programming for children in grades 1-6, in high-priority neighborhoods across the City of Hamilton.
- Demonstrate the use of positive behaviour guidance, and support staff with behaviour guidance techniques, best practices, and on-the-spot mentorship and feedback.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Maintain professional and respectful relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, school staff, parents/guardians, and community members.
- Create a welcoming environment for children that encourages daily participation.
- Ensure program health & safety protocols are followed.
- Helping plan and execute monthly meetings and trainings.
- Follow all guidelines as set out by the Ministry of Sport, School Board, and BGC Hamilton-Halton.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to take initiative in a rapidly shifting programming environment
- A passion for physical literacy, and being active for life
- Good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or Ontario College of Teachers, and/or has a diploma/degree or is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program studying child and youth care, recreation or leisure services, social work, psychology, sociology, or kinesiology with a focus/experience working with children ages 6-12 years
- Availability to work approximately 15 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
- G-Class Drivers’ License
- Valid Safe Food Handlers certificate
- High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development is an asset
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid/CPR-Level C (Red Cross preferred)
