Human Resources Generalist
Atlantic Operations is a wholly owned subsidiary of St Barbara Limited, an ASX listed gold producer and explorer with mining assets in Canada and Australia.
We are currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist. This role is a full time, permanent position, and will be based out of our Stellarton office.
The Opportunity:

Partnering with Hiring Managers to provide an efficient and effective end‐to‐end recruitment process.

Ensuring new hires are effectively onboarded (benefits, site orientation, payroll, etc.)

Tracking and reporting on open roles and any challenges in filling roles
-
Partnering with managers to resolve employee relations or discipline issues
-
Advising managers on the requirements of the Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code
-
Coordinating with department heads to ensure staffing requirements are understood and planned for

Maintaining relevant data trackers and managing the compilation and presentation of the monthly HR reports and distribution of the HR Reports.

Resolving employee issues regarding pay, benefits, leaves of absence, etc.

Becoming a power user of Sage People and assisting managers with user issues

Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; taking appropriate professional development actions
Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
-
Bachelor's degree
-
Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.

5+ years of HR experience
-
Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
-
Pro-active, self-motivated, and solution-focused thinker
-
Track record of success working with front line leaders to develop progressive solutions to talent issues

Detailed knowledge of the Nova Scotia Labour Standards Code

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
-
Proactive with the ability to work with minimal supervision
-
Willingness and ability to work in a mine site setting
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is desired

Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset
-
Experience in mining or other natural resources or heavy industry is an asset
-
Familiarity with external regulatory reporting requirements is desired
