Our established, boutique-style law firm is currently seeking an experienced Family Law Lawyer to join our growing legal team.
The ideal candidate is a dedicated, detail-oriented, and confident legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, supportive, and dynamic environment. You will work alongside a team of lawyers and support staff who value collaboration, initiative, and excellence in advocacy.
Qualifications:
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Minimum 3 years of experience practicing family law in Ontario
- Solid experience handling matters involving:
- Separation and Divorce
- Custody and Access
- Child and Spousal Support
- Property Division
- Domestic Contracts (Separation, Cohabitation, and Marriage Agreements)
- Demonstrated experience appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice
- Strong drafting skills for court documents and legal agreements
- Excellent legal research and analytical abilities
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple files independently from intake to resolution
- Experience managing support staff or legal assistants is considered an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice to clients across a range of family law matters
- Conduct client meetings and manage expectations with empathy and professionalism
- Draft and review a wide range of legal documents including: Separation Agreements, Marriage Contracts, and Cohabitation Agreements, Financial Statements (Form 13/13.1), Applications, Affidavits, Case Conference Briefs, Settlement Conference Briefs, Motions, and other litigation materials
- Prepare for and represent clients at court appearances, conferences, and motions
- Negotiate settlements in a collaborative and results-driven manner
- Conduct legal research and stay up to date with changes in family law legislation, case law, and court procedure
- Supervise and mentor legal assistants or junior staff assigned to support your files
- Maintain organized, accurate, and timely file management practices
