Reporting to the District Manager, the Service Technician III is responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and inspecting complex residential, commercial, and industrial propane systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver high-quality workmanship and customer service.
What You’ll Do:
- Install, service, inspect, and repair liquid and vapor propane systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to propane-related equipment, including:
- LPG dispensers
- Vaporizers
- Propane storage tanks and systems
- Safely operate crane trucks, tank movers, trailers, and other service vehicles
- Perform propane tank installations, relocations, and removals
- Maintain service truck inventory; ensure required tools, parts, and materials are stocked daily
- Accurately complete and submit daily service work orders and documentation
- Collect customer signatures or stamps when required
- Apply lock out procedures on unsafe or non-compliant customer installations
- Conduct and document pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, site inspections, and visual tank inspections
- Ensure full compliance with CSA B149 codes, regulatory requirements, and company safety standards
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, workmanship, and operational excellence
- Collaborate effectively with local and remote team members to ensure clear communication
- Communicate daily with the District Manager regarding completed work, challenges, and overtime approval
- Provide exceptional customer service while positively promoting the company’s products and services
- Identify and support sales opportunities by providing technical solutions and product information
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of industry experience as a licensed Class B Gas Fitter or completion of Year 3 Gas Fitting Apprenticeship
- Strong working knowledge of CSA B149 code(s)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Provincial gas fitting certificates and records of training
- Thorough understanding of propane properties and systems
- Proficiency with industry tools including pipe threaders, gas analyzers, tank movers, hand tools, electrical testers, and related equipment
- Ability to lift heavy objects on a regular basis
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and handheld applications
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Class 3 driver’s license or willingness to obtain
- Experience with liquid propane systems
- Advanced knowledge of propane appliances and plant operations
- Elevated lift, scissor lift, or zoom boom certification/experience
- Fall arrest or working-at-heights certification
- WHMIS and TDG certification (company-specific training provided)
- PTI, PGAC, or other industry-specific certifications
Salary: $37 - $43 hourly (based on skills, experience, qualifications, and geography).
Apprentice: $19 - $24 hourly (based on skills, experience, qualifications, and geography).
