Vintage Conservatory Yorkville is seeking a Sous Chef who is passionate about food, driven by excellence, and excited to contribute to a growing culinary program.
We are looking for a chef who is creative, professional, highly organized, and motivated to help build something special. This is not a position for someone who simply wants to maintain the status quo. We are looking for a leader who takes pride in their craft, enjoys mentoring others, and is constantly looking for ways to improve both the food and the operation.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support daily kitchen operations
- Execute service with consistency and attention to detail
- Assist with menu development, seasonal features, and special events
- Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety
- Manage ordering, inventory, and cost controls
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to improve systems and drive performance
- Contribute ideas and solutions that elevate the guest experience

Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a professional kitchen
- Strong understanding of food costing, inventory management, and ordering
- Experience with banquets, events, and à la carte service is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
