Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Bakery Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting customers, managing food preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized bakery environment. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their selections of baked goods and other products
- Prepare and package baked items accurately, adhering to food safety standards
- Operate POS system, , for cash handling and transactions
- Upsell bakery items to enhance customer experience and increase sales
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bakery area, including equipment and work surfaces
- Restock shelves with fresh products as needed and organize displays for visual appeal
- Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Handle cash register operations accurately, including processing payments and giving change
- Assist with food handling tasks such as slicing, wrapping, and packaging baked goods, deli and cheese products
- Follow all food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures in accordance with health regulations
Skills
- Experience in food preparation, food service, or cashiering is preferred
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor
- Knowledge of POS systems, for efficient transactions
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
- Understanding of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to upsell products effectively to enhance sales opportunities
- Previous restaurant or food industry experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
