One of our clients is currently seeking a experienced Shear Operator to join their production team in Amherst, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in manufacturing, steel processing, or industrial production environments.
Responsibilities
· Operate industrial shearing equipment to cut reinforcing steel (rebar) according to production specifications.
· Read and interpret work orders to ensure accurate material processing.
· Select, move, and prepare materials for production.
· Feed and unload materials safely and efficiently from processing equipment.
· Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards and specifications are met.
· Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance concerns promptly.
· Assist machine operators and production team members as required.
· Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
· Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
· Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from safety hazards.
· Support other departments and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Minimum 2 years of experience operating shearing equipment in a manufacturing, steel processing, or industrial environment.
· Previous experience working with reinforcing steel (rebar) is considered a strong asset.
· General warehouse, manufacturing, or production experience required.
· Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues.
· Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 30 lbs.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
· Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
· Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
