We're seeking a caregiver for an 85-year-old woman in Barrie experiencing early-stage cognitive decline. This is the family's first time arranging professional care support.
About the Client: The client lives independently at home and maintains her personal hygiene and bathing routine without assistance. She moves around independently without mobility aids. However, she requires supervision for safety due to memory changes and cognitive support needs. The family has noticed she seems lonely and would benefit greatly from consistent companionship.
Responsibilities: Prepare nutritious meals daily and provide medication reminders to ensure proper medication management. Perform light tidying and housekeeping tasks around the home. Provide supervision and gentle redirection for safety as needed due to cognitive changes. Offer meaningful companionship and social engagement to address loneliness. Provide occasional transportation for errands or appointments. Assist with grocery shopping as needed.
What We're Looking For: A caregiver who is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. Someone reliable and consistent who takes initiative when needed and communicates clearly with the family. Experience with memory care and cognitive support is essential. The ideal caregiver respects independence while providing appropriate supervision. Must be comfortable with daily visits and building a trusting long-term relationship. A valid driver's license is required for occasional transportation needs.
Schedule: Daily visits are needed, specifically Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM (4 hours per day, 12 hours per week). Consistency is important to build trust and routine. The client will be traveling for the next couple of weeks, but the family would like to begin the matching process immediately.
