OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Junior Data Analyst with a strong background in data analysis, reporting, and business management support within Capital Markets, Commercial Banking, or enterprise technology environments. The successful candidate will support a Business Management team by delivering data-driven insights, maintaining reporting accuracy, and assisting with operational and portfolio management activities across a large banking technology organization.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys working with large datasets, reporting tools, and business stakeholders to improve operational efficiency and reporting quality.
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Contract Length: 6 Months (Extension Possible)
Hours: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM EST
Pay: T4: $30 / IC: $$34.5
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform data validation, analysis, and reporting activities to support business management and portfolio reporting requirements.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Support record keeping, documentation management, and reporting governance processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, document findings, and support business initiatives.
- Prepare executive-ready reporting materials using Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and reporting automation opportunities.
- Support stakeholder management activities by responding to reporting requests and providing analytical insights.
- Ensure reporting standards, controls, and documentation practices are maintained across business management activities.
- Learn and adapt quickly to new tools, systems, and internal business processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–3 years of experience in a Data Analyst, Reporting Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar analytical support role.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and validate complex datasets.
- Experience working with large data sets, reporting processes, and operational analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation, and reporting functions.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on reporting accuracy, consistency, and data integrity.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn new systems, tools, and business processes.
- Understanding of how business operations, reporting, and technology functions align within enterprise organizations.
Preferred
- Experience within banking, financial services, Capital Markets, or Commercial Banking environments.
- Experience with MIS reporting, reporting automation, or dashboard development.
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives or operational optimization activities.
- Familiarity with enterprise reporting environments and governance practices.
EDUCATION
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
