Purpose of the Role
The role is responsible for translating customer requirements and sales proposals into complete, accurate engineering and fabrication documentation for compressor and pump packages. This includes development of P&IDs, bills of material, and supporting technical documents, as well as ensuring compliance with applicable codes and internal standards.
The position takes ownership of delivering technically sound, manufacturable designs that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties
Engineering & Design
- Develop engineering documents (P&IDs, line lists, bills of material, etc.) from project requirements
- Perform component sizing and selection (mechanical, electrical, structural)
- Ensure designs are aligned with applicable codes (ASME, CSA, ABSA, etc.)
Document Control & QA
- Review engineering documents for completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability
- Ensure controlled documents meet internal standards and revision requirements
- Incorporate fabrication redlines into final as-built documentation
- Support continuous improvement of documentation and engineering workflows
Production & Vendor Interface
- Support fabrication by resolving technical issues and clarifying design intent
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure supplied components and drawings meet project requirements
Systems & Process
- Generate ERP work orders for material and labour tracking
- Maintain standard templates and drawing libraries to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance with current practices
Position Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma
- Experience in gas compression, pressure piping or a fabrication environment is considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with internal and external personnel
- Attention to detail to produce highly accurate work
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel)
