Required Qualifications:
1. Diploma in a related human / social service field
2. One (1) year related experience required.
- Possess and maintain a satisfactory criminal record search clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Possess and maintain a clear Class 5Drivers Abstract
- Possess and maintain a valid First Aid Certificate
The successful applicant will be subject to a trial period as outlined in the collective agreement article 24.5 -Trial Period
Abilities:
1. Ability to assist individuals to live independently in their home by teaching skills such as grooming, cooking, housekeeping, money management, shopping, household safety, and pet care.
2. Ability to advocate for persons served needs, rights, desires and choices.
3. Ability to promote independence and provide opportunities for people to learn and practice new skills, assisting persons served in developing and promoting their gifts, talents, qualities and abilities.
4. Ability to participate in the development, implementation and ongoing documentation of individuals person-centered plans. Has excellent verbal and written communication.
5. Knowledge and ability to support persons served with their personal care needs and assist in maintaining a standard which will ensure that they are seen positively by their friends, family and community.
6. Ability to support individuals to develop and maintain fulfilling relationships with family, friends and neighbours.
7. Possess the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with all professionals involved in the care of the persons served.
8. Ability to prioritize and organize the schedule based on the changing needs of the person served.
9. Perform other duties as needed.
Required performance:
Job performance must be at a satisfactory level and will be assessed in the fulfillment of above relevant job duties. Including evaluation reports and disciplinary records in accordance with Article 11.4(d) of the Collective Agreement.
