Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer Intern to join our dynamic engineering team. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical system design, testing, and troubleshooting within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. As an intern, you will contribute to real projects that impact transit systems worldwide, developing your skills while supporting our ongoing innovations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing electrical schematics and system layouts using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or MicroStation.
- Support the development and testing of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and firmware components for control systems.
- Collaborate on signal processing tasks and system design projects utilizing MATLAB and Python scripting.
- Contribute to debugging electrical circuits and firmware issues during prototype testing phases.
- Help prepare technical documentation, including schematics, system diagrams, and manufacturing instructions.
- Participate in the integration of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation hardware into existing systems.
- Support mechanical knowledge application by understanding how electrical components interface with mechanical systems.
Skills
- Proficiency in electrical engineering principles, schematics creation, and system design.
- Experience with FPGA development tools and simulation software like ANSYS or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks for electrical layout design.
- Basic understanding of programming languages including C++, Perl, Python, scripting languages, and firmware development.
- Knowledge of signal processing techniques relevant to control systems and data analysis.
- Mechanical knowledge related to electromechanical system integration and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits, debug firmware/software issues, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
