WINE & SPIRIT SPECIALIST (Part-Time) 1933 Liquor Co. — Vancouver, BC $25 per hour 20–30 hours per week — peak hours focus (Thursday–Sunday)

1933 Liquor Co. is a boutique wine and liquor store with prohibition-era roots and a modern, tech-forward approach. We carry a thoughtfully curated selection of wine, craft beer, and spirits — and our customers expect more than just a quick transaction. We're looking for someone with real product knowledge to help us deliver on that.
The Role
This is a specialist role, not a generalist one. You'll be on the floor during our busiest hours — evenings and weekends — talking to customers about wine, spirits, and craft beer, making recommendations, and helping them discover something they'll love.
Your expertise is the product. Someone walks in unsure what to bring to a dinner party — you guide them to the right bottle. Someone's looking to start a small whisky collection — you help them build it. Someone wants to upgrade from their usual go-to — you give them options at different price points and walk through what makes each one special.
What You'll Do
- Engage customers in real conversation about wine, beer, and spirits
- Recommend products at the right price point for the right occasion
- Drive average order value through informed recommendations and curation
- Support in-store tastings, events, and product education
- Stay current on new releases, vintages, and category trends
- Run the POS efficiently and accurately
- Help maintain merchandising standards on premium displays
- Share product knowledge with other team members during shift overlap
Who You Are
- 4+ years of experience in wine, craft beer, or spirits retail (private liquor, hospitality with a strong beverage program, sommelier track, etc.)
- WSET Level 3 (required)
- Genuinely passionate about wine and spirits — you read about them on your own time
- Comfortable recommending premium products without being pushy
- Available for evening and weekend shifts (Thursday–Sunday focus)
- 19+ with a valid Serving It Right certificate
- Reliable, polished, and professional
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Considered an Asset
- WSET Diploma
- Cicerone, Prud'homme, Whisky Ambassador, or other beverage certifications
- Previous sommelier or wine bar experience
- Familiarity with Shopify POS or third-party delivery platforms
