Position Summary:
We are currently seeking an Immigration Lawyer to join us in Calgary or Vancouver. This position is suitable for lawyers licensed in Alberta or British Columbia with 2+ years of experience who enjoy continuous learning and being productive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. We would also like to meet candidates with 5+ years of experience and their own client relationships. There may be opportunities to work in other practice areas, including US immigration, employment and business law; and experience in these areas would be an asset.
Responsibilities:The primary responsibilities include:
- Advising business, family and individual clients on Canadian immigration matters, including strategic and compliance matters
- Preparing applications for:
- • Labour market impact assessments (LMIAs)
- Work Permits
- Permanent Residence - federal and provincial programs
- Citizenship
- Admissibility
- Working effectively with immigration paralegals and legal assistants
- Maintaining accurate time records and meeting billing expectations
- Managing client relationships through effective communication, accountability and positive results
- Contributing to business development and community initiatives
Skills and Abilities:
- LL.B. or J.D. Degree
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta or British Columbia
- Minimum of 2 years post call experience in Canadian immigration law
- Developing knowledge of federal and provincial policies, procedures and compliance requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication in the English language
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized, dependable and performance-oriented
- Positive attitude and adaptability to progressive technology, training and process improvement
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
