Overview
A Bodyshop Prepper is a specialist in the automotive repair industry responsible for preparing vehicles for painting after bodywork has been completed. Their main role is to ensure that all surfaces are clean, smooth, and ready for paint application, helping achieve a flawless final finish. (MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE)
Key Responsibilities:
- Sanding: Manually or mechanically sanding down repaired areas to ensure a smooth surface.
- Masking: Taping and covering parts of the vehicle that shouldn't be painted (windows, trim, lights, etc.).
- Priming: Applying primer to surfaces to promote paint adhesion and prevent corrosion.
- Filler Work: Applying and sanding body filler to fix dents, scratches, or imperfections.
- Cleaning: Degreasing and cleaning the vehicle surface to remove contaminants before painting.
- Inspection: Checking bodywork for any flaws or missed imperfections before sending to the spray booth.
Skills & Traits:
- Attention to detail
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Knowledge of sanding and priming techniques
- Ability to work with tools like DA sanders, masking equipment, etc.
- Understanding of health and safety in a workshop environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
