Landscape Team Lead
Armdale Lawn Care provides professional lawn and landscape maintenance services to residential and commercial clients throughout the Halifax area. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and dependable individual to lead one of our landscape crews. As a Landscape Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing a crew, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the high standards our customers expect.
Please note: This is a year-round position. Employees are required to participate in our snow removal operations during the winter months.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a landscape crew
- Organize daily tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and ensure customer satisfaction
- Communicate professionally with customers on-site when required
- Read and follow work orders, landscape plans, and project specifications
- Train, mentor, and support new and existing crew members
- Report job progress, concerns, and additional work opportunities to management
- Install mulch in garden beds
- Create and expand garden beds
- Sod installation and lawn repairs
- Tree and shrub planting
- Tree removal
- Install stone and paver walkways, patios, retaining walls, and other hardscape features
- Lawn mowing and trimming when required
- Operate power equipment including trimmers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, drills, compactors, cut-off saws, and other landscape tools
- Safely operate, or be willing to learn to operate, company equipment including skid steers, tractors, stand-on mowers, mini excavators, dump trailers, and other landscape equipment
- Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment
- Complete required paperwork, job notes, timesheets, and other documentation accurately and on time
- Ensure all company safety policies and procedures are followed
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Participate in snow removal operations during the winter months
- Work 10–12 hour shifts and occasional weekends as required
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of landscaping experience
- Previous crew lead or supervisory experience is considered a strong asset
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to motivate and manage a crew in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read landscape plans and follow project specifications
- Ability to identify potential issues and communicate solutions to management
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 kg (44 lbs) unassisted
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day
- Ability to work efficiently in all weather conditions, including participation in winter snow removal operations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract (experience towing trailers is considered an asset)
- Availability for evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays during the winter snow season, as required
- Willingness to learn and safely operate a variety of landscape and snow removal equipment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
