We currently have an opening for an ambitious Production Scheduler in our Nanaimo branch. This full-time position offers tremendous growth opportunities, including diverse projects, supported career development, and potential for advancement.
Role and Responsibilities
The Production Scheduler is the primary support for the Master Scheduler and functions in coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials through the manufacturing plant and within set KPIs (Key Performance Indicator). This role is accountable to ensure that the production schedule is current and accurate. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Manages the ERP System as it is related to Scheduling, including creating MTS jobs and quantities creating manual jobs, rescheduling job completion dates and quantities; printing of MTS and manual orders insuring output reflects requirement of product flow

Release all job travelers per production process requirements

Update schedules with both automated (LPR/OLH/New orders) including manual entries

Post area specific schedules on Production Gemba boards; print and provide schedules to production supervisors; ensure accuracy

Prioritize orders to reflect Branch deliveries; process and approve Expedite orders per load and available capacity in production

Production Progress – ensure production is hitting assigned target dates and processing in the correct order, make necessary inquires to ensure that these are achieved

Identify areas of backlog and determine bottlenecks; work with Production Manager to create appropriate recovery plans; determine if re-leveling of schedule is required

Monitor schedule and ensure that scans are completed and highlight any backlog to key stakeholders

Daily participation in the Gemba walk

Investigate impact of all order change requests and forward to owner within the flow

Primary contact for communication process within the factory; ensuring identification of appropriate owner for submitted requests, ensuring communication process is followed and communication is handled consistently, efficiently and effectively including new recover dates, late orders quality issues and leveling constraints; log all communication requests updating metrics

Manage and communicate all departmental metrics

Identify gaps and submit continuous improvement ideas within the scheduling/production and participate in process improvement implementation.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

High School graduate
-
Excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork and leadership skills across all levels
-
1-2 years previous experience in production coordination and/or project management
-
Proven experience working with ERP/MRP systems

Strong understanding of Supply and Demand

Excellent ability with Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Visio, MS Project and especially Excel)

Solid ability to prioritize and respond to last minute requests

Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills

Ability to perform with a high level of responsibilities and interested in managing new initiatives

Self-motivated/self-starter; adapts easily to change and work with a sense of urgency
Preferred Skills

Some post-secondary in a related discipline

Basic knowledge of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing methodology

Basic knowledge in production line balancing concepts and Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
