$36 to $44 per hour depending on experience. Full time, year round.
Squared Away Builds is a design-build renovation and custom millwork company based in Langley. Kitchens, bathrooms, and built-ins for homeowners who care about how things are made. We work across Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford and the surrounding Fraser Valley. We are small on purpose and we do not do volume work.
Right now I run every job myself. I am looking for one person to take the site over so I can spend my time on design and estimating instead of being in three places at once.
What you would be doing
Running our jobs. Not helping on them. You would be the person on site: sequencing the work, scheduling and holding the subtrades, keeping the client informed, and building the parts that need the best hands on them. I do the design, the pricing and the shop. You make the site happen.
To start you would work alongside me while we learn how each other operates. By three months I would expect you running a job with me on site twice a week. By a year, two jobs at once.
What I am looking for
Five years or more in residential renovation, at least two of them as the person responsible for the site. You have managed subtrades and held them to dates. You can read a drawing and you will tell me when the drawing is wrong. You are comfortable being the only company face in someone's house for a week.
More than any of that: you ask good questions, you tell me about problems the same day you find them, and you actually like this work.
The honest part
This is a small company. Some weeks are messy. I am still building the systems and you will hit gaps. You will not have a crew under you on day one, you will have me and a helper. If you want a big organized outfit with a safety department and a clear chain of command, this is not that.
What you get instead is real autonomy, work you can be proud of, and a direct line to the owner about how things get built. If you have run your own small operation and you are tired of quoting at nine at night and chasing invoices, this may suit you well.

$36 to $44 per hour depending on experience, reviewed at 90 days. Overtime per BC Employment Standards. Four percent vacation pay. Work vehicle reviewed at twelve months. I supply the major tools, you bring your belt and hand tools. Own reliable vehicle needed, kilometres reimbursed.
