Our client, is a research-driven technology company building advanced data-intensive systems that combine proprietary hardware with large-scale machine learning. They are hiring a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the MLOps & Platform Infrastructure function responsible for the compute, orchestration, and data backbone supporting experimental model development and production deployment.
This role operates at the intersection of infrastructure and applied research — enabling high-volume data processing, scalable experimentation, and reliable delivery of AI-powered capabilities.
Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team across Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, and Data
Define and execute the roadmap for scalable ML infrastructure supporting R&D and production
Architect hybrid cloud and on-prem compute environments, including containerized orchestration (Kubernetes)
Design high-throughput batch processing systems and storage strategies for large, complex datasets
Establish CI/CD, monitoring, and reproducibility standards across model training and inference workflows
Implement data validation, governance, and reliability practices to ensure defensible model performance
5+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, software, or data engineering
2+ years of experience leading technical teams
Strong hands-on expertise with AWS (or comparable cloud platforms) and Kubernetes
Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of end-to-end ML workflows
Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, etc.)
Familiarity with distributed or parallel compute frameworks (Ray, Dask, Spark, etc.)
Experience operating in high-scale, performance-sensitive data environments
Demonstrated ability to make pragmatic architectural and build vs. buy decisions
The estimated pay rate for this position is CAD $160,000 to $200,000 per year as of the posting date. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and training.
