Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Compliance Officer to join our team, responsible for implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of workplace safety programs within our manufacturing and industrial operations. This role promotes safe work practices, supports regulatory compliance and drives a positive safety culture.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of safety in a manufacturing environment and be committed to upholding compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Front Line, visible safety role, serves as a point of contact
- Develop, implement, coordinate and monitor safety compliance, policies, procedures within the manufacturing setting
- Collaborate with various departments and employees to ensure adherence to safety regulations and company/corporate policies
- Lead training sessions and workshops focused on compliance standards, safety protocols, and best practices
- Support the development, rollout, and review of safety programs aligned with manufacturing and industrial operations
- Promote safety awareness and engagement through coaching, communication and participation in safety initiatives
- Provide guidance regarding activities and projects necessary to maintain regulatory compliance and attain safety goals
- Incident management and WSIB coordination
- JHSC participation and maintenance of committee activities
- Anticipate, identify, and evaluate safety and hazardous conditions and practices through work site knowledge, employee interaction and work site inspections - providing recommendations for corrective actions
- Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, audit results, and training sessions
- Stay updated on relevant regulatory changes and industry standards to ensure ongoing safety compliance
- Promote a culture of integrity, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization
Experience
- Post Secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety Management with significant experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong understanding of industry safety regulations and safety standards
- Prior experience in safety training & safety development related to safety compliance or safety programs is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs tailored to diverse audiences
- Strong ability to manage multiple challenging tasks and assignments concurrently, progressing consistently, continuously, collaboratively and effectively towards corporate safety values and objections.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent listening skills and ability to investigate
- Well developed organizational and time management skills
- Strategic thinker and effective problem solver
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks such as OHSA or ISO standards is preferred
- Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and sensitive information

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
