A respected and well-established Vancouver law firm is seeking an experienced Family Law Legal Assistant to join its Family Law Department, supporting a Partner, incoming Associate, and departmental Paralegal. Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing correspondence, family law agreements, pleadings, and various court documents
- Scheduling court dates, mediations, discoveries, trials, and communicating with court registries and opposing counsel
- Arranging court filings, applications, and litigation-related documentation
- Tracking court dates, limitation dates, deadlines, and maintaining bring forward (“BF”) systems
- Assisting with the preparation of court applications, trial briefs, application records, and trial exhibits
- Maintaining lawyer calendars, scheduling client appointments, and managing email correspondence
- Managing files from inception to closure
- Conducting monthly billing processes and file maintenance
- Providing dictation and general administrative support as required
- Maintaining regular communication with clients throughout the litigation process
- Assisting with overall practice coordination and workflow management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Completion of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program preferred
- 3–5+ years of experience working within a busy law firm environment, preferably in Family Law and/or litigation
- Strong understanding of BC court procedures and family law processes
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and deadline management skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work well under pressure within a fast-paced environment
- Ability to independently manage multiple active files and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Strong client service orientation and emotional intelligence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, proactive, dependable, and highly organized approach
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, FileSite/iManage DMS, DivorceMate, and Elite 3E accounting software considered an asset
