Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking high school special education teacher for the Senior Inclusive Living Program (SILP), grades 7-12 for Holy Trinity Catholic High School for the 2025-2026 school year. This assignment requires a teacher with a vast knowledge in the area of special education and working with students with complex medical, developmental, and learning needs.
This person will work collaboratively with their School Administrator's, Classroom Support Teacher, Division Educational/Special Education Learning Coach, and parents, to support students. The successful candidate will have knowledge and training in:

literacy and numeracy knowledge and be able to support students with a range of literacy and numeracy skills

knowledge and ability to differentiate instruction
- provide opportunities for life skills in the community including swim lessons, community outings and potential work skills
-
practice communication and social skills with peers, other students, staff and community
-
technology as a support to students who require augmentative communication supports
-
working with students who have challenging behavior and has used a variety of approaches to prevent and reduce stress behaviors and be able to co regulate when child is upset
-
communication skills and enjoys supporting high needs children and families to develop the highest level of academics and functional life skills
- support the coordination of internal and external professionals in order to provide instructional and therapeutic programming for children within their school

What you Bring:

Specialized training or experience in Inclusive/Special Education
-
Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
-
Proficient in assistive and instructional technologies, especially for communication support
-
Experience working with students with medical complexities and high behavioral needs
-
Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) or willingness to obtain
-
Must be eligible for Alberta Teacher Certification and hold a Bachelor of Education Degree

Strong relationship building skills

Flexible and adaptable

Organized and able to meet deadlines in accordance with the school schedule

Commitment to education and excited to work with students each day
