Nucor Insulated Panel Group, A Division of Nucor Corporation is currently seeking some enthusiastic applicants for the position of Machine Operator for our Hamilton, ON location.
PURPOSE: Machine Operator tends automatic or semiautomatic machine and related equipment in a continuous production operation to produce metal insulated panels for commercial construction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate conduct consistent with Metl-Span’s vision and values
- Interpret job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions and to plan operational sequences.
- Operate machines and set feed rates, cutting speeds, stops, or guides, depths, applying knowledge of shop mathematics.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities with the equipment to maintenance technician.
- Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
- Operate overhead cranes, conveyors, forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
- Maintains operating records and reports.
- Ensure stocks of needed materials are always ready and available.
- Know and understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
- Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, clutter free work area.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards always.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and initiative
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to read measuring gauges (tape measure, micrometer, square etc.)
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work in an indoor non-climate-controlled environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ yr. machine operation experience in a manufacturing/production environment
SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Overtime and weekend hours may be required
- Shift work may be required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Heavy lifting up to 50lbs may be necessary
- Working Conditions can be dusty, noisy/hot/cold
