Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator/Labourer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and telehandlers (Zoom Boom), and other machinery essential for various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work safely in a dynamic construction environment. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to diverse projects such as paving, horizontal drilling, and site preparation.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery such as skid steers, backhoes, and telehandlers (Zoom Boom) equipment with precision and safety.
- Assist with site preparation, grading, paving, and horizontal drilling activities.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Support construction crews by handling materials and assisting with various labour tasks on-site.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment to prevent accidents.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs when necessary.
- Drive commercial vehicles as needed for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met efficiently.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and paving machinery.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Prior experience in construction environments involving horizontal drilling or similar underground work is a plus.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for driving large vehicles on-site or between locations.
- Familiarity with Kubota machinery or similar brands is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in heavy equipment operation within a construction setting.
- Previous experience in heavy civil projects including paving or site development is desirable. This position is integral to the successful completion of construction projects requiring skilled operation of heavy machinery combined with hands-on labour support. Pay: $24.90-$42.40 per hour
